Panther Pantry
The Panther Pantry was created in 2015 as a resource for our students and their families. The program started with four students that took food home every week. The program now provides for 160 students weekly. The pantry also provides clothing and other essential hygiene items for the students and their families. Back Pack Program
This program sends food home with students on the weekends and over long breaks but does not include summer break. Food that is sent home is enough for the student to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for each day, not for the entire family. This program is open to all students. Sometimes we do have a waiting list. Students must sign up each year.
Family Food Giveaway
Made possible in partnership and with funding from Second Harvest, our Big Idea Family Food Giveaway occurs monthly on the second or third Thursday of the month (unless otherwise noted) from 4:30- 5:30PM or until we run out of food. Patrons are asked not to get in line until 4:30PM so we can dismiss the students from school. Patrons must have a student attending Southside Middle School.
The Den
The Den is our clothing closet where students can get personal hygiene, clothes, winter coats, shoes and school supplies at no cost to students. If the students would like to make an appointment to visit the Den they can let the front office, team leader or Mrs. Huston know . Students are taken discreetly so Mrs. Huston will call them to the Den when she is available. Students are NOT to go to the Den unless Mrs. Huston has called them down.
