Clubs
Drama Club
The Southside Drama Club puts on two production during each school year: a fall play in November and a spring musical in April. During the rehearsal process members learn valuable theater skills including voice projection, correct stage movement and positioning, and proper care of costumes and stage props. In addition, selected students may have the opportunity to create props, paint set pieces, or perform sound and lighting booth tasks. Most importantly, Southside Drama Club provides students with a fun and comfortable environment for building confidence, developing friendships, and learning to work cooperatively toward a common goal.
Student Council
Student Council helps share students' ideas, interests, and concerns related to our school and community. We raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects, and helping people in need. We are comprised of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
National Junior Honor Society
The purpose of NJHS at Southside Middle School is to support and promote academic excellence and demonstrate that failure is not an option. We strive to increase the number of students achieving a 3.0 GPA or better, reward/honor academic achievement, increase visibility and awareness of academically achieving students, and to promote community involvement and bridge the gap between school, home, and the community.
Origami Club
Students that participate in Origami Club have the opportunity to learn the art of paper folding. We work on various types of folds and objects from animals to geometric shapes. Each week we have fun learning new skills and spending time together while creating origami objects.
Academic Team
The Academic Team competes in the Junior Division of the Indiana Academic Super Bowl with schools from across the state. Students are given a cross-curricular topic to study with focuses on English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Robotics Club
The Robotics club is for anyone that want to join, the kids have the opportunity to build their own robots and havet hem complete and obstacle course.
